Transformative Research in Diabetic Nephropathy (TRIDENT)
Study summary: About two in five people who are undergoing a kidney biopsy have diabetes. Diabetes is a common finding in people with kidney disease, but little is known about the specific ways in which diabetes affects kidney function. The purpose of this study is to gather a group of patients with diabetes who are undergoing a kidney biopsy to create a source of information with genetic, blood and urine samples available, by which researchers can study how diabetes affects kidney function.
Principal investigator: Michael J. Ross, MD
Major criteria to enter the study: People with diabetes and planned medically indicated kidney biopsy (prescribed by a practicing nephrologist). People on dialysis will not be eligible.
