Chief of Cardiology is Editor of Newly Published Preeminent Textbook on Multimodal Cardiovascular Imaging

Multimodality Cardiovascular Imaging, edited by Montefiore Einstein’s Chief of Cardiology Mario J. Garcia, MD, was published this past year as a comprehensive resource on the application, value, limitations, and roles of various cardiac imaging modalities.

Mario J. Garcia, MD, Chief of Cardiology and Co-Director of the Montefiore Einstein Center for Heart and Vascular Care and Professor of Medicine and Radiology at Montefiore Einstein, has released Multimodality Cardiovascular Imaging (1st edition), a comprehensive and authoritative guide on modern multimodal cardiac imaging recently published by Elselvier in October 2024. Edited by Dr. Garcia, a globally recognized leader in noninvasive cardiovascular imaging, this new resource reflects significant advancements in noninvasive cardiovascular imaging technologies and methods over the past two decades that have transformed the field of cardiovascular imaging and revolutionized how cardiovascular disease is diagnosed and managed.

The book delivers practical, evidence-based information and guidelines for those seeking a deeper understanding of the roles and limitations of each of the different cardiac imaging modalities. It provides a focused overview of multimodal cardiac imaging, including echocardiography, cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), cardiac CT, and nuclear cardiology, for clinical assessment and treatment.

Dr. Garcia is a leader in multimodal cardiac imaging and was one of the pioneers in the adaptation of multi-detector CT technology for coronary imaging. His research has focused on the validation of non-invasive imaging for the study of cardiac structure and function. He is the author or co-author of several books, book chapters and over 250 publications in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Garcia's research has been supported by extramural funding from the National Space Biomedical Research Institute (NSBRI), the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the Department of Defense (DOD), the American Society of Echocardiography, the NHLBIH and the American Heart Association.
