Mario Garcia and Leandro Slipczuk have been awarded a 3-year grant from Philips to pioneer the development of clinical applications for spectral CT in cardiovascular imaging. This cutting-edge technology allows for the material decomposition of x-rays, enabling the differentiation and quantification of materials within cardiovascular images.

The second grant, generously provided by Amgen, will fund a study on the early identification of patients with uncontrolled cholesterol during revascularization procedures. The study, led by Dr. Leandro Slipczuk, will investigate the implementation of guideline-directed initiation of PCSK9 inhibitors to achieve cholesterol level goals in these patients. The research will involve a comparative analysis of patients identified during the index revascularization procedure with propensity-matched controls, offering valuable insights into cholesterol management within the cardiovascular context.
