CHAM's Quality in Life Team (QUILT): A Beacon of Support for Pediatric Patients in 2023

QUILT Program at Montefiore Einstein elevates care for children with life-limiting illnesses.

In 2023, the Quality in Life Team (QUILT) at CHAM solidified its role as a fundamental source of support and care for pediatric patients facing life-threatening or life-limiting illnesses. QUILT's approach to care is comprehensive, addressing not only the medical needs of these young patients but also their emotional, spiritual and social well-being. The program's involvement begins from the moment of diagnosis, offering assistance with complex medical decisions, advanced pain management and a range of supportive services to improve the quality of life for both patients and their families.

This year, QUILT's ability to deliver such essential services was significantly bolstered by the fundraising efforts of the CHAMpions for CHAM NYC Marathon team, notably supported by Yankees All-Star Anthony Rizzo through his Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation. The team raised over $100,000 in the TCS New York City Marathon. These funds have been instrumental in expanding QUILT's reach and depth of services, ensuring that children in challenging medical situations receive the best possible care. The involvement of Anthony Rizzo, inspired by his own battle with Hodgkin lymphoma, highlights the community's commitment to supporting pediatric healthcare at CHAM and the vital role of QUILT in providing a holistic care experience to its young patients.
