Dr. Kevin Fiori Appointed to Transform Community Health at CHAM

Leading the way in community engagement and population health in the Bronx.

In 2023, Dr. Kevin Fiori assumed a key position at CHAM as the Vice Chair for Community Health & Engagement and the inaugural Division Chief for the Division of Community & Population Health within the Department of Pediatrics. This significant appointment sees Dr. Fiori spearheading the department's initiatives to enhance patient and community health through active public engagement. His expertise as a general pediatrician and associate professor in both the Division of Academic General Pediatrics and the Department of Family and Social Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine positions him ideally for this role. Additionally, his leadership roles as the executive director of the Community Health Worker Institute at Montefiore and the Director of Social Determinants of Health at the Office of Community & Population Health, Montefiore Health System, underline his commitment to community-centered healthcare.

Dr. Fiori's journey in medicine and public health is both extensive and impressive. After earning his MD from the University of Washington and an MPH from Boston University’s School of Public Health, he completed his MSc in Clinical Research Methods at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. His time in the Peace Corps, as part of the Master’s International Program, and his tenure as a fellow in New York State’s Empire Clinical Research Investigator Program, have deeply informed his approach to health service delivery and community health work. Dr. Fiori's establishment of the Community Health Worker Institute (CHWI) in 2021 is a testament to his vision of integrating community health workers into clinical care teams, a project that has garnered over $7.2 million in funding. His clinical focus in the South Bronx and his role as an attending physician at the Montefiore Medical Group Comprehensive Health Care Center (CHCC) further demonstrate his dedication to addressing social determinants of health in clinical settings. Dr. Fiori's new role at CHAM is the culmination of his years of service and expertise, and a promising step forward for the department and the community it serves.
