Dr. Bang Hoang Awarded $1.6 Million NIH Grant

The grant is for research focusing on osteosarcoma, a rare aggressive bone cancer that can metastasize and lead to death.

This $1.6 million R01 grant awarded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) seeks to study whether the SCF-Skp2 protein complex can be used as a therapy for osteosarcoma by blocking the mutational effects of Rb and p53. This knowledge may lead to a better treatment paradigm not only for bone cancer, but also for many types of cancer carrying the same genetic defects. This NIH award establishes Montefiore Einstein as a national leader in the treatment of bone sarcoma.
