We recognize the multitude of benefits of having a diverse range of leaders to instill equity and inclusion within our mission and continually strive for gender parity within the department. In 2023, women faculty members were promoted to leadership positions in areas including Graduate Medical Education, oversight of anesthesia services at the Moses Campus, and management of the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit. Three of our six Anesthesia Site Directors are women anesthesiologists – Dr. Vilma Joseph, who leads anesthesia services at Weiler Hospital, and Dr. Preeti Anand, who manages the anesthesia practice at the Hutchinson Campus. Dr. Kathryn Breidenbach continues to lead anesthesia and perioperative services at Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in the Hudson Valley. In addition, Dr. Elilary Montilla Medrano, who has been with Montefiore since 2007 and was the previous Hutch Site Director, is continuing to lead the expansion of our regional anesthesia service across MHS as our Director of Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain Medicine.
