Montefiore Einstein’s Restorative Neurology Specialists Incorporate the Latest Breakthroughs in Emerging Technologies and Treatments

We are leaders in harnessing the nervous system’s own regenerative properties to restore functional abilities by utilizing advanced technology, conducting leading-edge research and clinical trials, and holding the highest standard for rehabilitation medicine, a three-year designation granted by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).

Montefiore Einstein’s Restorative Neurology specialists incorporate the latest breakthroughs in restorative neurology into the treatment of patients suffering from nervous system disease. Its goal is to empower these patients to go beyond adapting to the impact of their disability to utilizing the nervous system’s own regenerative properties to restore functional abilities. These breakthroughs include robotic therapy, virtual reality and high technology interventions, 3D printing, neuromodulation, such as spinal stimulation after spinal cord injury, electrical stimulation devices for legs, arms and hands, AI and brain-computer interfaces, computer-based exercises for visual and cognitive training, stem cell therapy, and other neural regeneration or associated neuroplasticity paradigms.

Examples of some of our latest research include AposTherapy, a biomechanical shoe-like device calibrated by a physical therapist to offload pressure from painful joints, and Botox injections for spasticity.

Montefiore Einstein’s renowned  Burke Rehabilitation Hospital, is recognized as one the top rehabilitation hospitals in the country and is ranked in the top one percent of all U.S. hospitals for rehabilitation, according to U.S. News & World Report. It is the only nationally ranked rehabilitation hospital in the Hudson Valley. We are recognized nationwide for our clinical excellence in caring for individuals recovering from strokes, traumatic brain injuries, heart attacks, severe burns and other conditions, as well as for the sickest and most complex cases. We hold the highest standard for rehabilitation medicine, a three-year designation granted by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). We are one of the first rehabilitation units in the nation to receive the Age-Friendly Health Systems designation by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI). Also, Montefiore Einstein launched a system-wide initiative earlier this year to improve healthcare for older adults.
