Recent investments in our state-of-the-art facilities
Our state-of-the-art technologies and facilities allow us to provide the most advanced eye care to our patients.
Montefiore Einstein’s Department of Ophthalmology comprises a large and diverse faculty, which has trained and mentored the finest ophthalmologists in the New York area and across the country. Our world-renowned team of clinicians and researchers has earned recognition for its development of technology and treatments that raise the standard of adult and pediatric ophthalmologic care. Our faculty members have contributed to the advancement of the field by publishing their innovative work hundreds of times in national and international forums. Chairman and Professor Roy S. Chuck, MD, PhD continues to innovate within the field. He has been named on 14 patents to date, including the Trabectome, a minimally invasive surgical device that has revolutionized the way adult and infantile glaucoma patients are treated.

EyeLecture.com Online Learning Platform
Since 2017, under the leadership of Dr. Anurag Shrivastava, Montefiore Einstein Ophthalmology has been funded to develop an innovative lecture and content management system capable of creating highly interactive modules. These lessons deliver robust online didactics, thereby allowing live lecture time to be dedicated to interactive case-based discussions and hands-on training. Montefiore Einstein Ophthalmology faculty are producing dozens of lectures in collaborative partnership with Einstein students and ophthalmology residents. A robust online curriculum is being built within this proprietary platform in coordination with residency leadership, house staff, and Einstein medical students. The collaboration of students, residents, and faculty has led to the creation of robust modules that promote active learning, and augment live case-based discussions. Ongoing development of the portal will allow for extensions to other ophthalmology departments throughout the country, ultimately allowing for the creation of an educational consortium that can help access and educate ophthalmology residents throughout the world
The project has received a third round of funding this year from the Allergan Foundation, and the portal was highlighted and presented by the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and the Association for University Professors of Ophthalmology (AUPO) in recent national meetings. The recent COVID-19 pandemic brought the absolute need of high level online didactics, and we aim to have the eyelecture.com portal be an integral component of our dynamic educational offering. For more information, please visit www.eyelecture.com for short video clips of the portal capabilities and to make requests to join the consortium.
