Surgery for sleep apnea

Our division is part of a sleep disorders team that provides comprehensive evaluation of all aspects of sleep problems. We offer a wide array of surgical procedures, including the Inspire Upper Airway Stimulation (UAS) implant.

The Montefiore Einstein Sleep Medicine and Surgery team provides the latest and most innovative treatment options for patients who suffer from obstructive sleep apnea and snoring. We offer full diagnostic testing, including a sleep endoscopy for appropriate patients. Our Sleep Surgery team does a full evaluation of each patient and develops an individualized treatment plan.

Working together with our colleagues in the Neurology Department and Pulmonary Sleep Department as well as our dental partners, we are able to offer and implement a range of treatment options for patients with sleep disorders. These include noninvasive treatments such as continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), oral appliances, sleep hygiene and therapy and a number of surgical options like hypoglossal nerve stimulator (INSPIRE procedure). Our institution has been offering hypoglossal nerve stimulator placement for the treatment of sleep apnea since its inception, and we have an extensive experience with insertion of the INSPIRE device with excellent results.
