Montefiore Einstein established the Function Clinic within the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein 10 years ago to better serve children, teens, and young adults with chronic disabilities. The Function Clinic brings together a multidisciplinary team of internationally recognized specialists from Montefiore Einstein Urology, Orthopedic Surgery, Neurosurgery and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, who work collaboratively to develop comprehensive and personalized treatment plans for children and young adults. This comprehensive model of care is applied to all disabilities resulting in neuromuscular, skeletal and urological dysfunction or anomalies. Conveniently located in an easily accessible, mobility-friendly facility, our clinic offers a wide range of the most advanced interventions and support services under one roof, eliminating the need to make multiple office visits to see various specialists.

Our Function Clinic team begins by assessing the individual’s condition, answering any questions that arise and discussing treatment options, all in a single visit, ensuring an efficient and coordinated care process. 

The Function Clinic operates in a streamlined manner to enhance patient convenience. Morning clinic visits allow for comprehensive assessments, followed by select urologic procedures, including urodynamic testing and cystoscopy, which are performed in the afternoons on a different floor of the same building. This efficient model minimizes the need for multiple visits while ensuring timely and coordinated care.
